Using a text box object I can select whether or not to print that object.
Is there a way to not print the contents of a cell?
Note: Selection for Black and white printing is enabled so even if cell text in white it still prints. Need text in cell (not object) so it shows up in a list box, but do not want cell text to print.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Is there a background color to this cell? If there is no background color, then printing white text should not appear on a black and white printer.

Not True. Menu item, File-Page Setup, Sheet-tab, Print Black and white enabled(Checked) will print text in black even if white on white.

need text in this cell but do not want it to print.

Thanks

Using the TextBox change event or some such control trigger event, try custom formatting the renegade cell as ;;; three semicolons which make the cell's value invisible. You can also perhaps make it part of the print macro or a BeforePrint event, and then at the end of the macro reinstate the cell's format to what it was before, so the user will never know the difference and the cell will print as if it were empty.

Thanks Tom. Formatting Custom ;;; does the trick.
How does ;;; format hide the cell contents? Is this somewhere in the help menu I can read more about it?

Thanks again. :D

There's not a lot written about it, just a small section in Help saying that's what the result of three semicolons is when used in custom formating.

The path in Help is
Help > Microsoft Excel Help > Index tab > in the Type keywords field enter "hide" without the quotes > click the Search button > select Display or hide all values in a cell > in the pane on the right, select Hide all values in a cell.
