i am wondering if anyone has come along this before and can offer some assistance..

when using hyperlinks say from MS Excel with MS Office 2000 and Windows XP, if you click a hyperlink to a spreadsheet or document that you already have open on your computer, it jumps there, even if you've recently made changes in that file and haven't saved them...

cool.

when doing the same thing in Office 2002 with Windows XP, clicking on the hyperlink from Excel to an open Word doc does nothing, and if you click to an open spreadsheet it asks , "do you want to re-open (and lose changes to) this file.."

If I choose Yes it reverts to the saved version of the file. If I choose No, it them warns me "Are you sure you want to open this file... some files contain viruses etc..' When I click OK to open here Excel hangs with the egg timer on the cursor and does not open the file.

I am perplexed as to why this is the case.

and one more thing, with Excel 2002, how do you make it so pressing enter in a hyperlink cell launches the link, (as is already the case in Excel 2000)..

the 2 scenarios i describe are work and home, newer version of software at home but can't seem to get the top functionality i do from the same processes at work..

please let me know if you have something.
