Message Board,

I am trying to create several dependent dropdown lists within an excel table. However all the tips/tricks that I have been able to find on this subject only refer to creating dependent dropdown lists in cells not incorporated into a table.

For example, I would like to achieve the following

http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html

in a data table.

Can this be done?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Try to post a scaled-down sample 'data table' and indicate which parts of this table would figure as drop-down list if that's the intention.

Thank you for the quick reply, Aladin.

We can just use the 2 column examples of 'Category' and 'Item' presented in

http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html

Except, assume we have created an empty table consisting of two columns named 'Category' and 'Item'. Trying to create dependent lists using the same method no longer works...

What a picture shows cannot be read as data into Excel cells...
