Hi guys,

I have a form I created for our department that has dependent drop down lists that I have cobbled together that is barely held together with spit and duct tape :)

But I am having some issues creating another set of dependent drop down lists.

I have three section with dependent lists, as such

First and second sections
  • drop down 1 - user selects department (example: CRS, PW, PD)
  • drop down 2 - selection is different depending on answer to drop down 1 (we'll call this table A on the data tab)
  • drop down 3 - selection is different depending on answer to drop down 2 (we'll call this table B on the data tab)
  • drop down 4 - selection is different depending on answer to drop down 3 (we'll call this table C on the data tab)

I am trying to create a third drop down selection.
  • can I use the same department names as drop down 1 above but have it point to different tables?

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Yes you can, but you must add an identifier.
For example, in section 2, in drop down1 you select "CRC", you have in the drop down2 the validation list with =INDIRECT($B$3), and in the "Data" sheet you have a CRS Name with a range of cells.

In section 3, in the drop down1 you select "CRC", you have in the drop down3 the list of validation with =INDIRECT($B$3&"_2"), and in the "Data" sheet you have a Name CRS_2 with a range of cells.

Check the example in the file
