The situation: I was able to replace the normal "blank" workbook that opens up when you run excel with a template that we use at work (i.e. already has things formatted the way we want them etc). And it works fine. However I am having the following problems:
1) When you open an existing workbook the "blank" workbook still opens and runs behind the existing workbook - can I make it so the "blank" workbook only opens when I run the application without opening an existing workbook?
2) When I run multiple instances of excel I run into the problem of having my "blank" workbook open in two places at once - so one is read-only. I thought I could just make the "blank" workbook a template and then each new instance would run however excel will not recognize a template (or at least I cannot figure out how to make it) as the default workbook.
Additional Information: the "blank" workbook is stored under XLSTART and I am running Excel 2000.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
