Default table order - stop auto sorting

How can I force PowerPivot to keep the records in the same order as the imported Excel spreadsheet? I have a record number [row()] and date in the spreadsheet and when I import, some records don't appear in the same order. It only seems to lose its order when I add some more columns.

I'm using some DAX functions where I need to check for last record and I have to keep the records in a certain order. It seems that PowerPivot sorts the table based on what's being imported.

Not sure if this is a bug or a limitation. Maybe someone else knows how to stop the table from auto sorting.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
While I haven't figured out how and why PowerPivot displays the records in the main table, it seems that the reason I wasn't seeing some records in the Pivot table (reports) was of a filter setting. My mistake.

So my problem is solved, however it would be nice if someone might be able to explain why PowerPivot displays the records in a non sequential order, when sorting is only temporary until you refresh??

Thanks
