Weird one for me.

A long story short, a colleague who uses one of my sheets now has a default double click action of 'Open' when double clicking a template file.

It's only just started doing it. My computer, as always, has the default to 'New'

How could this have changed and how can I change it back?

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Which version of Windows are you using?

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

The only way I know to do it is via the registry. You need to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Template\shell

and change the (Default) key to New rather than Open
