Hi, I have been using search to find post on unique items.
In the list of returned post, Aladin frequently refers to the following link for solutions:

http://www.mrexcel.com/board/viewtopic.php?Topic=8659&forum=2

Each time I click on the link it takes me to the index page and not to the posted message.
Is this a dead link or a bad link??

Thanks in advance, 2rrs

Neither. It's an "old version of the board" link.

Here's the "current version"

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=8659

Oh, and moving this to 'Questions about this board'

Is it not possible in some idle period to convert all old-board link refs to the current or add a piece of script that converts an old-board link automatically to the current whenever a former type of link is submitted/activated? That would be just great.

This is a pain, especially with bb coded links, but in all cases when you see:

/board/

Substitute with:

/board2/

Hope this helps. Aladin, agreed, this would be a real treat. :p

I did the query on that a while ago... took all the posts that have a /board/ in them... I have it ready, for me to work it ! because I guess that I'd have to manually check each one... I have plans for that, somewhere in the near future...

=LEFT(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"board","board2"),"Topic=","t="),FIND("&",SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"board","board2"),"Topic=","t="))-1)

or for the lazy:
=HYPERLINK(LEFT(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"board","board2"),"Topic=","t="),FIND("&",SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"board","board2"),"Topic=","t="))-1))
