Dates Stored as Text

I am having an issue where my dates are stored as text but still look like they are in date format. I have tried everything to fix this including text to columns. Are there any other ways to convert these to a date format?

Example:
1/1/1900 (looks like its a date, but is actually in text format)

Thanks

Text to Columns should work.
- Select the column
- Change the format to your desired date format option
- Do a "Text to Columns", and in Step 3, choose the Date option with the "MDY" format option
- Click "Finish"

I've tried text to columns using the date function, datevalue, changing to number then tried using text to columns.

If you tried the steps, exactly as I laid them out, what happens?
After you do this, pick any entry (let's say it is cell B2), and enter this formula in any blank cell and tell me what it returns:
=ISNUMBER(B2)

So, are you all set now, or is there still an issue?
