I have one tab and on it I have 3 columns date, dollar Amt and margin. On another tab I have two columns one is a list of dates and next to them is the Interest rate, this second tab basically is a historical listing of the fed lending rate. I want to place a field on the first tab that looks at the date on that tab and compares to the second tab to find the rate based on where it falls in the time frame and populated it with the rate from the second tab

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!

This is perfect for a vlookup. You basically vlookup on the first tab =vlookup(FirstTabDate,HistoricalLendingTableRange, 2(what column # in fed table is the % in), 1)

(to use an approximate match vlookup your dates in the fed table need to be sorted oldest to newest)
