Hi Guys,

Simple fix i hope, but this has been driving me nuts for a couple of day now.

I made a CRM system to use for work, and have recently been provided with a mac laptop. when i open the crime file, it seems to have changed all of my dates to US format MMDDYYYY. i can simply change these by formatting the cells, though when i then click on one, the formula box still shows the US format (not sure if this means anything).

Any new dates that I type in, are then not recognized as dates! unless i physically type them in a US format.

i could type 13/02/2015 and it would show in this format (using the format cell function to set the date as DDMMYYYY), but if i try to link this cell to a formula in another cell, it won't recognize this as a date (i get a ref error).

Simultaneously, if i type just the day and month. Excel usually recognizes what I'm doing and completes it into a full date for me when i press enter, BUT it will only do this for me if i type in US format (MMDDYYYY); This tells me that its not recognizing my input as a date.

Please note, that this all works fine on my networked PC, just not on this new networked laptop.

its not a mac thing, as I initially built the CRM on a mac (my home desktop)

please help

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
maybe a user default somewhere, much like the windows control panel for region, or often keyboards and languages can be better accessed via word to change system defaults
