I would like my date axis in a 2013 Pivot Chart to graph proportionally based on the dates in my data set. I know how to do this without a pivot chart (using scatter plots), but I am unable to do this with my pivot chart.

Let's say I have sales data for:
Col A : Col B
1/1/2000 : $100
1/1/2001 : $120
1/1/2008 : $150
1/1/2010 : $200

I want proportionate intervals on the x axis, so 2000 and 2001 data points would be closer together than 2001 and 2008 data points. I've tried 'Format Axis' --> 'Axis Options' --> 'Date Axis' which does nothing. I'm positive my dates are formatted correctly as dates (not text). Besides adding new rows of dummy data for every month in VBA (I don't even know how to do this), has anyone found a workaround? Thanks so much!

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
how about between 1/1/2001 and 1/1/2008 add 1/1/2002 and leave the value blank

Then on the chart try and format the new value with the background colour so its effectively invisible

Thank you. I am trying to avoid adding blank data to my master data as dates will be changing constantly, so it would require some tricky VBA. But I appreciate your insights!
