Date and Time field shorten

I get a report with date and time formatted like this: "8/7/2012 1:23:16 PM" What VBA code can I write to get just the month, day of the month, hour and AM or PM like this "8/7 1 PM"? For this project, I do not need minute or seconds data.​

Is the source actually a date, or a text string?

Use =ISNUMBER(A1) to verify.
Where A1 holds one of those dates.
Does that return TRUE or FALSE

If True, you can use the Format function in VBA

MsgBox Format(Range("A1"),"m/d h am/pm")
