database & performance from Power BI

Good Morning,

can anybody explain me how good is the performance from power bi in relationsship to other tools. (Like IBM Cognos, Excel or Access)
And what is the database behind power BI ?

PowerBI is fast. Much faster than IBM Cognos, Excel and Access by many factors.

PowerBI differs from the other tools you mentioned in the sense that the technology should be considered an end point for data. It is not a database in the traditional sense because it does not provide data - it is a consumer of data which provides a semantic layer between the user and the data.

Good xVelocity for more information. This is the name of the PowerBI engine.
