Data validation - Whole number vs decimal

Under Data Validation, I have these 2 options: Whole number and Integer. What is the difference? I tried them both but same results. Thank you so much.

Which version of Excel are you using?
I do not see any "Integer" option. I see "Whole number" and "Decimal", like your title suggests.

The difference between "Whole numbers" and "Decimals" is apparent; one allows decimals and one doesn't.

A whole number is just that, ie 1 or 2 or 11 etc.
A decimal is like 1.2 2.05 11.256 etc & is therefore not a whole number.
