Hi,

Can I please pick your brains for some much needed excel help

I am trying to set up data validation using dependent drop down lists, of which this is simple as long as you can define the names the same as the headings for each "dependent list"

There is my issue, each of my headings may change based on formulas elsewhere on the workbook

I have a report of which is a complete outstanding task list with an alpha numeric number for each task

of course when this task is completed it will be removed and the outstanding list moves up one etc

CA2;CA51 houses the task reference
CC2:CC51 is the list of jobs within the first task
EE2:EE51 is the list of jobs within the second task.

etc etc

Many thanks for any help

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
When creating a drop down list, I am sure you are aware you can add the data to the incell drop down list using a , to separate them or define the cell range i.e (B6:B12) or you can even use named ranges which I think based on your question you already know, So I think you are asking if you can make the Named Range dynamic based on formulas, here is a link that might help again just not sure what you are looking for at this point https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/652-excel-replace-range-names.html
