I have a named range "REPORTS" in sheet 1 - cells $a$1:$a$415

I have data validation using "REPORTS" on sheet 2. 6600 rows and everything works fine.

Now I insert a couple of reports/rows (anywhere between rows 1 and 415) and those reports do not show up in the data validation list.

I have renamed the list and redone the validation and still no success.

hmmmmm? I just do not get it.

thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Now here is some more.

When I insert the row in the named range, I can then 'type' that entry into the data validation range (it doesn't appear in the drop down) and then AFTER I type it in it appears in all of the cells in the 'pick from list' in that data validation range.

Also does anyone know of why the drop down box (the little arrow) does not show up? The file has abotu 6600 rows of data.

thanks

With Sheet1 active choose the Insert | Name | Define... menu command. Is the name 'REPORT' listed with or without 'Sheet1' on the right-hand side of the name list? Do a similiar check with Sheet2 activated. What are your findings?
