What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Hi @shiraz50

I need a little clarification. Your question is a little confusing to me.
I want to add a data valuation formula in Sheet 1 Column I to state if i choose country in Sheet 2 column A
What does "if I choose" mean in "if I choose country in Sheet 2 Column A"?
Data validation works on single cells (values) not on columns or rows.

data valuation formula in Sheet 1 Column I to state if i choose country in Sheet 2 column A then data from Sheet 2 column C must be populated in Sheet 1 Column I .
That seems to be a circular reference if I've got it right. You choose from Sheet 2 Column A, but at the same time your data IS in Column A

Maybe you need something like this:
Easy Steps Excel Dependent Drop Down List Data Validation
or this:
Data validation with conditional list

But if I got you right, you'll need conditional data validation with some lookup function.

Please taka a look at those two topics and tell me if that's close to what you're looking for.
If possible, could you please give another example of your data validation.

Hi Pete

Yes i think the conditional formatting will work but how do i create this formula in one cell on sheet 1 (Column I )

So if the country is selected in Sheet 2 (Column A) then data from Sheet 2 ( Column C ) must be avaialble as a drop down function in Sheet A (Column I )

I hope this clarifies ? Thanks for your support. Please let me know.

Hi @shiraz50
I'm still confused.

First, selecting a cell or range of cells in one sheet does not affect other sheets, so you can't add an action or formula unless you save your file as "Macro-enabled workbook" (*.xlsm) and use some VBA code that performs some actions depending on a selection.

What you can do is add a dropdown list that changes depending on what you enter in a cell.

What do you mean by "selecting" in "country is selected in Sheet 2 (Column A)"?

Please help me understand.

Hi Pete

I will go with the first option. It seems to have worked. Thanks for the feedback
