I would like to create a data validation list that ignores empty cells in the drop list. In addition, the list is on another sheet.

I renamed the entire column in the sheet that contains the data for the drop list (A:A) for example. The column contains so far only 3 data, but more data will be added later.

I would like to create a data validation list that ignores empty cells based on that renamed column (let's call it "Data") located on a different sheet (Sheet2).

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
This can be done with the name feature of excel

In sheet2 (Where the validation list would be) Name column A as "Data"

1) Select Column A and enter "data" in Name Box (Where cell address populates Eg : A1)

2) In Sheet1 Select any cell
3) Open Data validation dailog box (Short cut -Alt D&L)
4) Select List in the drop down list
5) In source type =data
6) Select ignore blank check list

Hope this is what you are looking for
