Data Model in Excel 2016

I have Excel 2016 (64-bit) which has PowerQuery and PowerPivot built in (but you have to check the "Add-In").

Is anyone else experiencing the Data Model to be EXTREMELY slow? Whenever I create a calculated column, it takes a good 20-25 seconds for the screen to refresh. Same thing happens when I change the data format. I know it's a "first world Excel" problem, but geesh, it gets aggravating.

Just curious if I'm alone in this one.

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
How big is your data model file size and tables? When you add a calc column it has to recalc every columns and decompress all the data. Calc columns are "normally" in my experience used in error vs measures. Each calc column makes your workbooks larger and slower.

Can you describe your data model and what you are doing - I may be able to give you some advice.

around 9k rows, 10 fields. Before switching to Excel 2016, it was much faster. This is painfully slow.

I'm just grabbing data from Salesforce via PQ, but then just doing some basic SUMX and AVGX calculating fields; but needing to just perform simple arithmetic before that.

It's slow when I'm RENAMING the column let alone actually putting in the formula, which is why I wondered if it was a setting.

I doubt it is a setting. That is not a large model at all. I use models that are 50m rows. How many calc columns do you have?
