Good Afternoon,
I currently have data for an earthquake that I want to analyse and hopefully my explanation can help you answer my question. There are two columns I am looking at - intensity and epicentral distance (however, these can be any values). I have plotted these in a scatter plot of epicentral distance against intensity (as can be seen in picture one).
However, I would like to split the intensity data into bins e.g. intensity from 1.0 to 1.5 and 1.5 to 2.0 are two separate bins. I would then like to use a box whisker plot, potentially if this works, to look at the minimum, maximum, average and standard deviation of each bin. For example, like in picture two where the arrows represent the minimum and maximum data points within the 4.0 to 4.5 bin and the 5.5 to 6.0 bin etc.
Is there a way on Excel that I am able to do this and hopefully it makes sense. Feel free to ask any questions to understand my question more. Thanks, Liam
