I am trying to import csv files to Microsoft Access using New Data Source > From File > Text File

However every time I import, it gives me the error 'Cannot open database It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt'.

How do I fix this? Any ideas?

I've been able to import a .xlsx set of data but every .csv file gives me this error.

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Start by checking your db file size. If you are at or near the 2GB limit, trying to import more data will likely fail.

It probably would not be a bad idea to run a "Compact & Repair" on the database anyhow.
If it keeps happening, and you are below the 2 GB limit, you may have a corrupted database.
If you try importing it into a brand new database, do you still have the same issue? If not, it points to an issue with your current database.

Is this a new database? If not, as others have asked, what size is your database? Have you done a Compact/Repair?
Have you set up the import specs...delimiters etc?

Post a few records from your csv so readers can see what you're dealing with.
