I just started this new job and they are using an excel spreadsheet to develop a data dictionary. I feel it is too cumbersome since the list is on the first sheet and there are numerous other sheets for each item in the list. I wanted to use an access database and I started creating one after importing the data into access. Will this work? And if so, how?

Your request is to broad to give a specific answer. Do you have specific issues that you are working on that we can offer some help with.

Generally, you will have tables that are normalized. You will have queries to extract the data from the tables. You will have forms that you use to manipulate around the database and enter data. If you have not worked with Access, then here is a good tutorial to get you started.
