I'm following the coverage of this a little bit. I found this article really interesting (and a little bit frightening).

To our members in the affected regions, I hope you are all bunkered down and I hope everyone emerges unscathed, houses in tact, pets safe and sound too!

Whoa! I read it was huge, but had no idea just how big it truly is.

Aussies are known worldwide for their toughness, so I am sure they will stand proud at the end. Just the same, I hope they have all the hatches battened down tightly because it's going to be a rough ride.

Hang in there AU! Our prayers and hopes are with you!

thx. luckily i am not affected, but we will all feel the economic aftermath i am sure. there have been some extraordinary webcam feeds from the area on ustream and abc.net.au/news24 has info for anyone who is interested. wind 50kmh faster than Katrina. expected to travel up to 600km inland as a cyclone.

I've sat through a few Hurricanes here in the states but I cannot even imagine the fury of Yasi. Those pictures are awesome.

I hope all of you Mates in Oz stay warm and dry.

Alan

Reading the latest, I believe the worst is over. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have been as devastating as some predicted, current with no deaths reported (according to BBC news).
