Custom Sort - Use Last Letter

I have a list of data that I am cleaning. It has 5 columns.
I need the following to happen to get the data in the orderthat I need it in. I have tried everythingI can think of, but I keep ending up with issues.
Column D is a combination of 2 letters, i.e. XA, GS,RY. It will always be two. I need to first sort this list so that everycell that ends with S is listed first. So, the list would be like BS, GS, RS, TS, AB, AD, GA, RR, etc. I can dothis with a filter, but I don’t want to filter, I just want to arrange.
Then I want to custom sort by Column D with the “Ends with S”first, then by Column A.

Can anyone help me navigate this?

Would you consider a helper column (e.g., E) that contains the last letter from the D column?

If so, fill this down:

=RIGHT(D1,1)

Then do your double sort on E and then A.
