Custom Icons

Custom Icons for tools in the toolbars, otherwise known as "button images".
This may be a tough question to answer because from my understanding it varies based on what version you use.

In 2003 (which I know is older) you have a "button editor" which allows you to create your own icons, but I was wondering if there is any website that provides custom icons to use? Excel does not have a way to load icons, so I guess this site would either have to provide the "Excel11.xlb" file that contains them, or even just a picture of grids to copy manually.
I am pretty good at creating icons myself, but some tools I just can't seem make anything good for them, and it seems to be taking me a great deal of time which I would rather not spend on button images.

I have searched quite a bit, but am surprised that I really haven't found anything. I thought there would be tons of them around.
If anyone knows of any websites, please share them.

I actually found an addin that provides a more advanced button edtor and also seems to allow you to load icons which is interesting (I just got it and have not tried it out yet so I don't have much to say at the moment) but still this site didn't provide custom icons created by other users to load them, so I would still need to create them.

Don't know if it is possible at all but are FaceID's a possibility?

If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes

Thank You for this response, what the!, another thing I don't know anything about and have to research, I tell you this is never ending! :)
I did not know anything about FaceID's, so that is why it has taken me some time to respond because I have been searching around to learn more about them.
I have found many graphics showing lists of tons of them, apparently there are thousands to choose from.
Although I still wish I could find some solutions for the issues I have run into regarding editing / customizing icons, with so many FaceID's available I could probably find what I am looking for and maybe avoid having to customize icons at all. (Just hopefully I can find them without having to go through all 4,000+ of them :))

I would like to be able to copy and paste these FaceID"s into my toolbar (so I can edit them in the Excel Button Image Editor) but I can't think of a way to view them in a program that would allow me to do so.
I have found some bits of macro coding here and there that seem to maybe allow you to add the icons in your macro, but I have not been able to get anything to work yet. If they were added through a macro coding, I don't think I would be able to edit them if I wanted to because they would be just references static in a macro, but if they did not need to be edited then that would be fine.

I have quite a few more macros that I have found that I need to try, if I can figure out how to do this I will let you guys know, just in case someone finds this valuable in the future

Thank You again for your response and for bringing my attention to something that I was unaware of.

Hi. What I am trying to do is use my own icons in the Quick Access Toolbar as I find the icons provided are inadequate.

I think that is what this post is about - but cannot see where to do it.

In Excel 2016 - Customize the Quick Access Toolbar - Modify Command - Modify Button - I would really like to add my own icons (I have created the icons as .bmp)

Any suggestions most welcome.

Actually this was more for older versions of Excel (2003 and earlier) which used icons/buttons/toolbars instead of the ribbon system/quick access toolbar found in newer versions.
I unfortunately don't have a newer version so I cannot help with this, or I would.
I don't mind if you use this thread to see if you can get some answers for your question, but if it seems that you aren't getting any responses here, you may want to start a new thread with "Quick Access Toolbar Icons" in the title, which might get you better results.
Hope This Helps, good luck.
