Hi, I am running Excel for MAC Ver 16.92 (24120731). MAC OS Ventura 13.7.2 and am trying to custom format a slicer. In the version of Excel I have, I have 8 x light slicer defaults and 6 x dark slicer defaults.

I did some investigation and it seems the only way to do this on MAC is to duplicate an existing slicer and format it as you want. However I have tried this method and I can only get the background of the slicer to change. I want to be able to. change the button colours depending on if there is data for the slicer selection or not. The only options I have to format are

Whole Table
First Column Stripe
Second Column Stripe
First Row Stripe
Second Row Stripe
Last Column
First Column
Header Row
Total Row
First Header Cell
Last Header Cell
First Total Cell
Last Total Cell

Interestingly when I try to modify the slicer it opens a Modify Table Style Window (not Slicer). I have tried formatting all the above in really bright colours so I can see what it updates but nothing seems to correspond to the slicer buttons?

I looked at a YouTube video that showed there was a New Slicer Style button for Windows (
). When that was selected there were a whole heap of different options to select that I don't have on the MAC version of Excel.

Whole Slicer
Header
Selected Item with Data
Selected Item with no Data
Unselected Item with Data
Unselected Item with no Data
Hovered Selected Item with Data
Hovered Selected Item with no Data
Hovered Unselected Item with Data
Hovered Unselected Item with no Data

In the Video they were able to successfully modify the Slicer button colour. Also of note was that the Window that opened was titled New Slicer Style whereas the Window that opens for MAC says Modify Table Style?

Not sure if this is an MAC Excel thing (i.e referencing Table settings instead of Slicer settings) or if it is related to the version of macOS I am running. I am current for the hardware I am running (fairly old MAC - 2017'ish I think) but the latest version of macOS 15.2 (Sequoia) is not compatible with my hardware.

Appreciate any guidance on this query or if it should be directed to Microsoft?

Regards, Andrew

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
