Hi,

How do you customize the display of a cell so

✓ -- is shown when the value is equal to 1
x -- is shown when the value is equal to 0
~ -- is shown when the cell is blank or anyother value is entered

=UNICHAR(10003) is the ✓.
=UNICHAR(10005) is an ✕ that works well in Calibri and Arial with the checkmark.
=UNICHAR(8764) is a tilde, ∼, that also seems to work well.

Custom number format: [=1]"✓";"∼";"✕";"∼"

This might be better: [=1]"✓";[=0]"✕";"∼";"∼"

I cannot eliminate the minus sign with negative numbers. They display as a negative tilde, '-∼'.

Thanks for the replies. The blank cells are staying blank though.

A cell format can only format cell contents. It will never do anything for a blank cell.

I can think of no way to make an empty, truly blank cell display a symbol. I assumed "blank" meant a cell containing an empty string.
