Custom cells

I'm creating a baseball scorecard. I've made my cell designs to look like a diamond and based done with inserting shape and fill feature formatting. I have defined names for each of the cells. How can I use a dropdown list to reference the named custom cell and have it appear in let's say the 1st inning. Player A gets a base hit so I want to use the dropdown, choose single and have the custom "single" cell appear in 1st inning in the pertinent cell? TIA
