"Crop" and excel spreadsheet that's WAY too large

So my excel spreadsheet has formatted rows that number in the thousands. My columns also are far more numerous than I need. The whole problem began when I used a macro to automatically fill thousands of rows of cells with formulas, so I'd never have to drag down formulas again. But oh, how I regret using that macro now.

I only really need a couple hundred rows.

Yet deleting all the excess rows - it's too memory-intensive an action for Excel to handle.
How can I effectively "crop" the excel spreadsheet - so that it's only as large as I need it to be?

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Hello

Place your cursor in column A in the cell below your last row in use (the last over all columns, not just column A).
Then hit Shift-Control-End and select a couple of more rows by using the arrows. Right-click a cell, choose Delete... and Delete the entire row.
Do the same for the columns, placing the curson in row 1 in the column to the right of the last used column.
Delete the entire columns and "some more columns".
Save the file. Should be okay again.
If these actions are too heavy, delete cells in smaller chunks.

For some reason, this time it worked. Sorry for the meaningless title - that was supposed to read

"Crop" an excel spreadsheet that's WAY too large

The AND rather than AN typo made it unintelligible.

No problem for the title, at least it's not: "I Need Help" as title.
