Good evening,

I am creating a monte-carlo simulation using NORM.INV distribution based on a mean and standard deviation.

However, the distribution of the data that these numbers are based on is skewed; which doesn't get reflected, as only using mean/sd produces a symmetrical distribution.

Is there a way I can add the =skew of the distribution into the randomly generated number?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
You can approximate your desired distribution with a triangular distribution (with a known skew) or with a step-wise linear distribution, for example.
