In trying to create a form in Word when I insert a text box I am unable to get rid of the border around the text box. What I am tryingto do is create a text box in a cell of a table and allow the table to provide the underline. I do not want any other border lines.

Any ideas???

Hi Rossjp,

What type of form - a plain document to be used as a form or a document containing formfields? What type of textbox - an autoshape textbox, or a text formfield?

If you're using an autoshape textbox, you can remove the autoshape outline via Format|text Box|Colors and Lines > Line > No color. But, if you're using a table, why do you want an autoshape textbox anyway? Using a textbox risks having the user type text in the cell behind it anyway.

Cheers

Thanks! I'm using text fields. Using tables because its much easier to make a form layout look more consistent. I think the table is protected and only the field can be accessed once a user is in the form completion mode.
I've also been experimenting with InfoPath and may go that way if I can get the hang of it. Any pointers about InfoPath? One thing I've encountered is that if I protect the form I can't figure out how to unprotect it to make needed updates/changes.

Hi Rossjp,

If you're using text formfields, these don't have borders, as such. What you'll likely see on-screen are the field delimiters, but these don't print. Of course, if the underline the field or give it a border, that will both show up on-screen and print. Depending on how you've got Word configured, the field shading may also print.

As for unprotecting the form, with most version of Word it's via clicking the padlock symbol on the forms toolbar or using Tools|Unprotect document.

Cheers
