creating a drop down list with multiple colours

I have a list of about 20-40 tasks in one column and I need to create a drop-down list in a different table with this list. I want that each task will get a different colour what
tool I need to use in order to get this in an easy way. with conditional formatting, I need to define one colour to one line and the tasks numbers are changing.
