This should be simple????

I want to create an invoice number in a query. The number created will be appended each month to a table for tracking purposes. So some how the invoice number will need to be unique in each query. Any suggestions?

Invoice number can be I guess upto 6 digits and a variable.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
I forgot one thing. For this to work properly the invoice number has to be the same for company.

Example:

Company A 25687 Item 1 $5.00
Company A 25687 Item 2 $6.50
Company B 25790 Item 1 $4.00

So the invoice number generated by the query has to be the same if the company name is the same.
