Hello,

I have a column containing timestamps. I would like to create a drop down menu in another cell that contains a list of the the distinct month/year combinations in the timestamp column. I know how to copy the distinct values to another column and then create a Validation cell from those distinct values to get the drop down, but I would like to avoid copying the distinct values to another column to keep my sheet tidy.

Is this possible?/ Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Probably you can just extract unique month year from the list into a hidden sheet and create validation list from there using this as start

I've actually figured it out, created a scripting dictionary of distinct values, using format() to get whatever part of the timestamp I need, with which I filled a combobox
