crazy dates

I have a customer who, when he pulls an excel report from our website, is not getting correct dates. Some of his dates appear as they should (2/15/02) but the others are coming us as H2.4.2 or some other variation which looks similar to that. He is running Excel 97 and we think that maybe he has to update. However I can't imagine he is our only customer running that version and we have not heard of any other problems, such as that.
 

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
