Using Excel 2007. How would I use a formula to say "If you see a letter e in B5:M7, AND there is a number 1 in B8:M8, add up the 1's that fit these criteria? Thanks!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
I think this is what you are after:

=SUMPRODUCT((B8:M8=1)*(B5:M7="e"))
