Dear Mr.Excel,

kindly need your advice how is formula to COUNTIF function ? if I would like to :
1. I have data regarding annual leave monitoring for staff of company which there is a regulation internally that the staff could take annual leave for 1 day and half day. for half day leave will count 0.5 only and 1 day leave will count 1 (day ). For the abbreviation for 1 day leave is AL, for half day leave is HL.
I made a formula for 1 day leave with : COUNTIF(D1:D10,"AL"), for this formula was worked count 1 . How is the formula "COUNTIF" if I need the data count 0.5 day only for half day annual leave ?

thanks in advance for your kind support

regards,
NN

Is this what you mean? If not please give a few sets of sample data and expected results.

=COUNTIF(D1:D10,"AL")+COUNTIF(D1:D10,"HL")/2
