I have a list of numbers in column A, 1-100.

I want to count how many are less than 30, how many between 30 and 60, and how many over 60:

for example, I tried =countif(A:A,<30)

But that returns an error

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Try
=countif(A:A,"<30")

=countif(A:A,"<60")-B1 <-- B1 is the cell counting <30

=countif(A:A,">=60")

Another option for the middle one would be
=COUNTIFS(A:A,">=30",A:A,"<60")
