COUNTA formula question

I'm trying to write a formula that uses the COUNTA formula (I think). I want to count if cell c2 or c3 is not blank. If they are both empty I would expect the result to be 0. If either one contains text then I would expect the result to be 1.

Any thoughts, please?

Try

=COUNTA(C2:C3)

Try

=COUNTA(C2:C3)

Except that will return "2" if there is something in both cells, and they only want "1" in that case.

Try:

=MIN(COUNTA(C2:C3),1)

Hello Sufiyan,

Your formula is fine if both cells are empty - it gives me the correct answer. What I'm trying to achieve, though is if C2 OR C3 contain text I expect the result to be 1. If BOTH cells contain text I'm still looking for the answer to be one.
