count yes or no

how to count yes or no in excel row or column based on certain name for example if i had
tango , zebra & alpha as names , i want to count total yes or no automatically every time the data is updated wether in column or row depending on the needed requirements at work
i want to count for each name separately the total yes or no

i believe it’s something like vlookup and countif combined

You can test following

=COUNTIFS(A2:A10,"Tango",B2:B10,"Yes")

thanks dear it worked great for a single column but when i try to use same formula to read from let’s say column I:AJ it doesn’t work, any advise on that

Could you explain what do you mean exactly by " reading Columns I:AJ " ...

in the second part of the equation, instead of searching let’s say for yes in a certain column, i want to search in a range of columns because i have a lot of questions and they are all categorized into 4-5 categories and this report is updated daily that’s why i wanted this equation to look for yes or no depending on the name in the first part of the equation, i hope this clarifies things a little bit
