Count entries by person by date?

I have a sheet where multiple people add tickets every day I am trying to count the number of entries made by each person on each day Co column I has the person who created the entry and column O has the date, any ideas?

I have it figured out just not happy with the outcome since I must have the second sheet open for the data to populate.

I assume you meant second workbook (instead of sheet) must be opened.
If so, you may be able to use SUMPRODUCT which I believe will work with a closed workbook.

See example of SUMPRODCT below. You will need to change ranges to match your data and workbook(s).
