Im trying to get a formula to look in A1 and then in all cells from A2:A200 and count how many blank cells there are before any data is found, so in the example below the answer would be 3.

Any help appreciated.

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

If you Have the FILTER function, does this do what you want?
Excel Formula:
=FILTER(ROW(A2:A200),A2:A200<>"")-2

Another option:
Excel Formula:
=MATCH(TRUE,A2:A200<>"",0)-1
