I want to query against a huge table and get some totals info from just the returned results.

Is there a way to say Count all the records that are returned and sum this column?

Would I be able to do this in a normal select query or would I have to do it in a report?

Thanks,
David

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Select Query

You may do this in a normal Select query. In the query toolbar, hit the "Aggregates" button (it's the one that looks like the Sum button in Excel, the button that looks like a capital "E"). Clicking this button will put a new field in your query called "Totals". In this field, you will have several Aggregate options, one is Count and one is Sum. Selecting these will give you the results you need.
