For the life of me I cannot remember how to do this and I know it is easy!!

I need a formula that refrences Text in column A but counts the corrosponding row in another column.

So John Smith's total for Owner would be 1 and for Logistics it would be 4.

Stacy Jones' total for Owner would be 2 and for Logistics it would be 3

Steve Henry's total for Owner would be 0 and for Logistics it would be 4
IndividualOwnerLogistics Budget Actual
John Smithyesyes $ 37,889.00 $ 36,358.12
John Smith yes $ 198,889.00 $ 156,723.53
John Smith yes $ 59,766.00 $ 53,328.45
John Smith yes $ 66,889.00 $ 56,016.88
Stacy Jonesyesyes $ 98,889.00 $ 131,974.62
Stacy Jonesyesyes $ 85,739.00 $ 85,339.96
Stacy Jones yes $ 58,889.00 $ 41,592.75
Steve Henry yes $ 50,643.00 $ 36,748.86
Steve Henry yes $ 143,889.00 $ 133,075.74
Steve Henry yes $ 26,858.79 $ 17,964.34
Steve Henry yes $ 698,889.00 $ 698,889.00

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
In xl2007+ that's COUNTIFS:

=COUNTIFS(A:A,"John Smith",B:B,"Yes")

the criteria above could be references to cells holding those values.

Maybe
=SUMPRODUCT(--(A2:A11="John Smith")*(B2:B11="yes"))
or Pivot Tables perhaps
