Hi

I'm after a bit of help with a sheet.

I'm making a costing spreadsheet.
Essentially the way it works is that a customer gives me a spec of a piece of material that they need. E.g. Material X, 80mm x 60mm x 1.2 thick.

I have in stock, sheets of various materials in various thicknesses and sizes.

So far I have got the sheet to work as follows:

input the material: "Material X"
input the thickness required: 1.2
input X dimension: 80
input Y dimension: 60

The sheet then works out which sheet would be the most efficient to cut from.
In this case sheet to use = "250 x 300" would cut 12 per sheet and leave only 16% waste.

Now I need it to tell me the cost of that 250 x 300 sheet in 1.2 thick in material X

Now my brain has turned to mush and I can't figure out how to get it to do that.

Any ideas?

Thanks

James

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
Hi.

Well if you have a database with the price of each of your different sheet you have in stock, you can get it via a simple vlookup no ?
Is there any calculation to do on the price ?
