My excel file that I work on everyday (and copy and rename everyday and also backup to the BOX app online) gets corrupts every so often. Today it happened again. Perhaps someone here can me trace the error. I've attached the text that comes up when I say Yes when Excel asks if I want to recover the file. The file name with the that contains the information below is called "error145840_01.xml"

By the way, I DO NOT use the recovered file as I do not trust it. I use the recovery tool to see if I can discover more information. One thing I think may help that the error is in Sheet40 ? Also, I cannot find the file named "sheet40.xml" on my hard drive. I did a search and it comes up with nothing and I am even searching using MS file explorer including hidden files.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

<recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main"><logFileName>error145840_01.xml</logFileName><summary>Errors were detected in file 'C:\Users\Susan\1SusDocs\1Koch\Corrupt\colorants-cpa-v307.xlsx'</summary><repairedRecords><repairedRecord>Repaired Records: View from /xl/worksheets/sheet40.xml part</repairedRecord></repairedRecords></recoveryLog>

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
sheet40.xml refers to the 40th sheet (counting from left to right), including hidden sheets, in that workbook.

Is there anyway that I can get to the recovery log? I looked on my hard drive for the file listed in my question, but it wasn't there. HOW in the world do I know what the error is?

The error log will just say what you have already posted.
Do you have any freeze panes on the 40th sheet in that file?

No, there aren't any frozen panes on the 40th sheet. When I recovered it, the print area was selected, if that gives any clue.

You need to look an a non corrupted version of the file, as the repair is removing whatever caused the problem.

Honestly don't know, It's not something I've ever encountered, the freeze panes was the only thing that came up when I did a search.

Do you think/have any knowledge that since the file originated in Excel 2010, then was modified in both Excel versions 2016 and 2019 that would be causing the problem? In addition, it is shared on the Box cloud sharing app and downloaded and uploaded quite often?

The file corrupts every so often, and the log file does not consistently refer to the same sheet.

I wouldn't think the versions would be a problem as they are all "newer" versions (ie post 2003).
Uploading/downloading files use to cause problems It's a long time since I've encountered that.
