I have an idea for an Excel tool that would be very useful for people in my field of work. The idea is a variation of a standard Pivot table and it would basically be a tool that utilizes complex formulas and lookups. Is it realistic to think I could pay someone to develope the tool, copywrite, then sell it?

Last used cell?

Potentially. You would need to create it as a utility or add-in. There are a number of them out there already; some paid, some free.
You would need to work out how to price it so people would want to use it; I saw a really useful utility once that was so overpriced the guy hardly sold any. If he had halved the price he would probably have done a lot better.
