Hi All,

ACCESS Newbie needs help. I have a table of 1906 records I imported from excel and I want to break into three separate tables.

I have copied records into the other tables but have hit a wall. When I try to copy and paste my comment section (max 255 per cell) I get the following error: "the field is too small to accep the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data."

I am lost as to how to do continue. All ideas or tips are appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Ed

What criteria are you using to break up the table?

If you have definite criteria, then breaking up into separate tables is probably unnecessary. You can instead create three queries to separate your data however you need it to be separated.

All reports/forms/queries will run off of queries just as easily as they run off tables, so there is no point in putting them into different tables if they can be just as easily separated into different queries (which usually is easier anyhow).

Hi Ed
change the variable type for the comment section from "text" to "memo" - text is limited to 255 characters while memo is limited to 65,535.
