I know that the usual way to copy-paste text only is to Copy and the to Paste-Special-Text only, but this does not work in my case.

At least in Excel 2010 (and I'm sure it is the same in all of them), when you try to do that and the destination cell is a Merged cell, you receive an error telling you that :warning: the operation requires merged cells to be the same size.

So, which is the way to copy text only? Or any other way to work around this inside Excel (copying to Notepad is a big detour).

Thanks

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
This is the trouble with Merged cells as they are basically a corruption of the Grid. One simple solution would be to remove merged cells and instead use Format -> Alignment -> Horizontal: Center Across Selection.
Another solution is to select the entire area (including the merged cells) then click = the respective cell you need relative to the first cell used when creating your selection and hit Cntrl + Return to make the formula equal the required values for the entire range. Then once the data is linked correctly you can select the same area again (should already be selected) and copy paste values. Then you are not trying to change the structure at any step but does become a difficult task as the required area gets bigger so again not ideal.
